Reading is Fundamental, Inc. (RIF) is the nation's oldest and largest children's literacy organization. Since 1966, RIF has operated with a single mission: to provide new books and resources to children and families that need them most.

RIF programs can be found in busy cities, rural communities, schools, libraries, youth detention centers, homeless shelters—in short, anywhere and everywhere you can find children and families whose lives can be transformed through the power of reading.

At the heart of every RIF program are three key elements:

• FREE books for children to choose and keep
• FUN activities to get children excited about reading
• FAMILY AND COMMUNITY involvement

Last year through a grassroots network of 450,000 community volunteers RIF provided more than 16.5 million new, free books to 5 million children and their families.
